Started racing in 2003, but only indoor, but that didn’t matter, his first race saw him take third and carried on to become indoor karting champion at Trax in Eastbourne – holding the track record for some time.
Then he finally got his kart racing license at Buckmore Park on the 15th August 2003. And because of the instructor were impressed by his driving, got invited to the million pound club house opening with Bernie Ecclestone; demonstrating the kart school.
Eventually at the end of 2003, started racing outdoors in Junior Honda Prokart. (F6) In his first race which was the last of the session for the other competitors he took the 1st place novice award; having never been in a kart more powerful than a corporate one.

2004 saw him racing in Formula 6 (Junior Honda Prokart) just after getting off his novice plate at the beginning of the year. By the later part of the year he was up the front hassling for wins, and that time came at Buckmore Park – picture on the right…

At the end of the year he wound up 4th in the championship and won the first place Challenge Cup and was awarded at Brands Hatch for the Formula 6 presentation evening.

2005 was a good year for him; winning many races and if not winning, being close to. He ran in 2nd of the championship for a lot of the year, then eventually taking 1st but then due to having a engine playing about at the second to last race of the year; dropped down to 2nd again. But last of the season was another bad round and from being on line to win the championship, he dropped to third overall. But won the 1st Place Challenge Cup and due to the help of his dad; won the Concourse Trophy (The best turned out during the year).

While this was happening he was competing in the Sandown Daytona Championship, where he also won many races; but in the end ended up 2nd in the championship, missing out on 1st by one point.

So that was the end of the road for Jason in the Junior Open Twin / Honda Junior Prokart, and 2006 will see him in Junior Rotax Max; having high hopes…
